Maggie Williams
Operations Manager
Hello! I'm the LilyPads Housing Operations Manager and who you will likely speak with if you call us. I am a photographer and homeschool parent of two. I graduated from the University of Virginia with a dual degree in Global Development Studies and Sociology. I have spent the last seven years working as a birth worker, providing doula services, birth photography, and bereavement support to families in central Virginia. When I'm not homeschooling or working, I volunteer extensively with the local non-profit Cat Action Team. I became interested in working with LilyPads after getting to know Jen through her flower donation garden, Fern Creek Florals, on social media. After spending last summer and fall navigating my husband’s surprise surgeries and cancer treatment, I experienced firsthand how emotionally and physically draining it can be to have a loved one in the hospital. While we are fortunate to live half an hour from the hospital, we experienced the difficulties that come with having to be so far from a loved one in treatment. I am grateful to be able to extend compassion and housing support to families facing similar challenges.
OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Jen Koym, President
Jen graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor's in Science. After graduating, she worked for The Legal Aid Justice Center and led international cycling trips. In 2012, she completed her teaching certification from Mary Baldwin and then worked as a science educator in the public school system. She received her Master's in Educational Technology from James Madison University in 2016, where she also served as an adjunct professor. In 2017, she founded the non-profit, LilyPads Housing. She is currently the President of LilyPads Housing and also sits of the Patient and Family Centered Care Steering Committee for UVA Hospital.
Jen is now a flower farmer and wedding & event florist. Her family farm, Fern Creek Florals, donates bouquets and bulbs to families that are inpatient at UVA Children's Hospital. She also freelances as a graphic designer specializing in surface pattern design and organizational branding. She is mom to, Lily, her CHD heart warrior and for whom LilyPads is named, and wife to Todd, her best friend.
