Please Welcome LilyPads New Operations Assistant, Maggie Williams!

Hello LilyPads Friends,

We have some exciting news to share! We have hired an Operations Assistant, Maggie Williams, to help us with all the day-to-day activities of our organization. Below is a little background information on Maggie to help you get to know her better.

Maggie is a photographer and homeschool parent of two. She graduated from the University of Virginia with a dual degree in Global Development Studies and Sociology. She has spent the last seven years working as a birth worker, providing doula services, birth photography, and bereavement support to families in central Virginia. When she is not homeschooling or working, Maggie volunteers extensively with the local non-profit Cat Action Team. Maggie is a natural-born compassionate support person, although she regularly takes trainings to bolster those skills. She became interested in working with LilyPads after getting to know Jen through her flower donation garden, Fern Creek Florals, on social media. After spending last summer and fall navigating her husband’s surprise surgeries and cancer treatment, Maggie experienced firsthand how emotionally and physically draining it can be to have a loved one in the hospital. While she is fortunate to live half an hour from the hospital, she experienced the difficulties that come with having to be so far from a loved one in treatment. She is grateful to be able to extend compassion and housing support to families facing similar challenges. Maggie resides in Scottsville, with her husband and two children.

We are so excited to welcome Maggie to our team and look forward to all the new and wonderful things she will bring to our organization. We are planning a meet-and-greet with Maggie in the next few weeks and will send out details very soon. Stay tuned!
